Poems of Yun Dong-ju Revive as Songs in China

Poems of renowned "resistance poet" Yun Dong-ju written during the Japanese colonial rule of Korea have revived as songs in his hometown Yanbian in China.

A committee for the development of ethnic Korean culture in Yanbian said on Sunday that it has produced about one-thousand music CDs using Yoon’s ten major poems, including “Seo-si.” The committee added the CDs recently hit the market in the region.

It is the first that Yun’s poems are turned into songs in China.

The late poet Yun was born in Longjing in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, which holds various cultural events every year in memory of Yun.
