USTR : FTAs to Pass Sooner Than Later

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk says the U.S. administration is working with Congressional leaders to pass pending trade accords with South Korea, Colombia and Panama.

Kirk made the statement during the Coalition of Service Industries Global Services Summit that opened in Washington on Wednesday.

The top U.S. trade official said he is still confident that the trade pacts will be passed sooner than later, adding that his office will quickly announce a plan on how to move forward.

Kirk’s remarks suggest that Washington will soon announce whether it will seek ratification of the trade deals before the August congressional recess or sometime in September.
