S. Korean Woman Dies in Ghana

An investigation continues in the death of a South Korean woman who died in Ghana after jumping from a moving taxi.

A Foreign Ministry official said that the 21-year-old college student, identified only by her surname Yoon, got in a taxi with two friends Sunday afternoon. The official said Yoon jumped from the car out of fear she was being kidnapped when the taxi began to move before she closed the door. Yoon died from head injuries sustained in the jump. Her two friends suffered only minor injuries.

The ministry official said that there is low possibility that the taxi driver was trying to kidnap her as he came back to return Yoon’s luggage. Nevertheless, the official said the ministry has urged local police to conduct a thorough investigation.
