Japan Reportedly to Push for Dialogue with NK

A Japanese daily is reporting that the Japanese government wants to hold dialogue with North Korea before the resumption of the six-party nuclear talks.

Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Tokyo would like to avoid being the only the country that hasn’t held dialogue with North Korea before the resumption of the six-way talks.

However, it is unclear if the North would accept Japan’s proposal for dialogue.

Bilateral relations have been severed between the two nations since 2009 when North Korea failed to keep its promise to conduct reinvestigations into the abduction of Japanese citizens in the North.
