'NGO Groups Visit NK to Monitor Aid Distribution'

Radio Free Asia (RFA) says that international relief agency officials are visiting North Korea to monitor the distribution of food aid.

The U.S. based broadcaster says that members of the German relief organization Cap Anamur have gone to North Korea to check the distribution of food aid delivered to Pyeongan Province. The report also says the Canadian relief group First Steps also made an eleven-day visit to the North from July 15th to verify the distribution of 120 tons of beans.

The RFA notes that the United Nations and the European Union have pledged food aid to the communist state on the condition that aid groups are allowed to thoroughly monitor the food aid distribution process.
