Int’l Red Cross to Provide Emergency Aid to Flooded N.Korea

Foreign media are reporting that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has budgeted 580-thousand dollars to support flood recovery in North Korea.

The media, including U.S.-based Radio Free Asia, said the ICRC will provide relief aid aside from food, inspect the flooded regions and register flood victims. The committee says it plans to conduct recovery projects for six months in some ten counties in Hwanghae Province and South Hamgyong Province.

According to reports, the ICRC said it began distributing relief supplies before the budget was allocated, because it believed the situation was urgent and could not wait for a budget to be set.
