'China Persuading N.Korea to Consider People's Livelihood'

A Japanese daily reports that Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao says China is persuading North Korea to make the livelihood of its people a priority.

The Yomiuri Shinmun said Wen made the remark during a trilateral summit with South Korea and Japan in Beijing on Sunday.

The daily said Wen told South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda that it's necessary for the international community to induce and advise North Korea to make the right judgment.

The report also quoted the Chinese premier as saying that Beijing is conveying the importance of economic development to Pyongyang. The paper said that China is making clear through its remarks that it is urging North Korea to refrain from conducting a nuclear test.
