S. Korea's Defense Minister Not to Visit Japan in May

South Korea’s Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin said he will be cautious about signing the mutual logistics support agreement in the military pact between Korea and Japan.

Defense Minister Kim met with Democratic United Party Floor Leader Park Ji-won at the National Assembly on Thursday and told the lawmaker that he will not visit Japan this month.

Kim said that he had initially planned to visit Japan in May to sign the General Security of Military Information Agreement. However, he decided to postpone his trip as public concerns are rising and political parties are raising questions about the hastiness of the signing.

He added that he will not handle the matter with more haste than caution and will approach the sensitive issue through discussions at the National Assembly.
