Obama: World Backs Troop Exit Strategy for Afghanistan

U.S. President Barack Obama says the international community is behind his strategy to end the war in Afghanistan.

He made the remark following talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Chicago on Sunday, local time.

Obama said the task now is to implement the exit strategy effectively, which he said will be possible since the Afghan people have the ability to recover.

Leaders and delegates from 50 countries gathered for the two-day NATO summit to hammer out a withdrawal plan of international forces from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen vowed there will be no rush for the exits regarding newly elected French President François Hollande's plan to pull French troops out earlier than expected sometime late this year.
