Forbes: 92 Mln Vehicles Will Have Smartphone Integration

U.S. business magazine Forbes is predicting that most cars will have smartphone integration by 2016.

Forbes predicted that 92 million vehicles will have Internet connectivity via smartphones in four years and the value of the sector will grow to 14-point-four billion dollars.

Forbes said the smartphone integration will allow a range of telematic services such as satellite-based navigation, music streaming from the Web, and automatic dispatches of emergency services to traffic accidents. It will also help law enforcement locate stolen vehicles and even disable them from a distance.

Since February last year, car part suppliers and IT companies have been working together to create a standardized protocol called MirrorLink.
