France, Germany Agree Greece Should Remain in Euro Zone

France and Germany’s finance ministers have agreed to take all the steps necessary to keep Greece in the euro zone.

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and his French counterpart Pierre Moscovici said at a joint news conference after meeting for the first time in Berlin on Monday that their countries want Greece to remain in the euro zone.

The agreement comes after leaders of the G8 countries expressed opposition to Greece’s withdrawal from the euro zone during a summit at Camp David in Washington last Saturday.

On Wednesday, European Union leaders will hold unofficial talks in Brussels and discuss Greece and its troubles.

Following the international community’s response regarding Greece, stock prices at the New York Stock Exchange saw sharp growth for the first time in seven days while European stock prices rallied for the first time in six days.
