China Urges Better Communication to Resume Six-Party Talks

China’s Foreign Ministry says that countries participating in the six-party talks should enhance communication and seek to improve the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the remark Tuesday during a news conference when asked what China expects from the U.S. top nuclear envoy Glyn Davies’ trip to China.

Hong stressed that the six parties have a shared interest and responsibility in maintaining peace on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, adding that China believes that the February 29th agreement between the U.S. and North Korea should be implemented.

The spokesman also said that all parties should work together to resume the nuclear talks soon and maintain peace and stability on the peninsula.
