Samsung, Apple CEOs Likely Leave Patent Dispute Unsettled

The chief executives of Samsung Electronics and Apple held 16 hours of negotiations earlier this week to settle a series of global patent disputes.

U.S. court records confirm that Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Choi Gee-sung and Apple CEO Tim Cook met in San Francisco with their legal advisers on Monday and Tuesday.

A San Francisco federal court mediated the talks and has yet to reveal the results. However, industry sources assess that the two electronics giants only reaffirmed their respective positions and failed to reach any significant agreement.

An official trial is expected to open on July 30th in San Jose, California if Samsung and Apple didn't come to terms over the patent battle in this week's talks.

In April, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ordered Samsung and Apple hash out their patent disputes in a settlement conference.
