Russia says that it has successfully test-fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile capable of penetrating a missile defense system.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said that a new Russian intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from a mobile launcher in northern Russia and hit its target on the far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula.

The ministry expects the new missile to boost the combat capability of its strategic missile unit.

Russia has yet to disclose a detailed description of the missile such as its name or range.
