The Gyeongju World Culture Expo will be held in Istanbul, Turkey next year.

The city of Gyeongju in North Gyeongsang Province signed a memorandum of understanding with Istanbul in its city hall city to jointly host the 2013 Gyeongju World Culture Expo in the Turkish city.

The joint expo will be held sometime around September 2013, and various performances, exhibitions and special events will be showcased for around 20 days.

Around 60 government officials including South Korea’s Culture Minister Choe Kwang-shik, Governor Kim Gwan-yong of North Gyeongsang Province and Turkish culture ministry officials were in attendance at the meeting.
