Jury Begins Deliberation in Samsung-Apple Trial

A jury has begun deliberations in the high-stakes patent trial between Samsung Electronics and Apple.

Jurors are going over a 20-page form including 33 clauses addressing allegations that Samsung violated Apple's patents and trademarks.

Apple has set the compensation for design-related patents ten times larger than other patents and as a result, the amount of compensation is expected to vary significantly depending on whether Samsung is found to have violated Apple’s design patents.

In April of last year, Apple filed a suit against Samsung at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose, claiming that Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablet computers infringed on Apple’s patents and trademarks. Samsung issued a counterclaim in response.
