U.S. Urges N.Korea to Return to International Community

The U.S. presidential White House said on Friday that the path to resolving the situation in North Korea is “very clear,” urging Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons program and turn its attention to the welfare of its citizens.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a press conference on route to Florida that North Korea should cease its bellicose rhetoric and provocations in order to go a peaceful path.

The spokesman added heightened tensions on the Korean peninsula and in Russia were provoked by North Korea after Russia warned this week things in North Korea are spiraling out of control.

Earnest said the recent passage of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2094 was a “pretty clear indication” that there is unanimity among those across the globe, including China and Russia, in solving the North Korean situation peacefully.
