S. Korean Foreign Minister Requests U.S. Cooperation on Nuclear Pact

South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se requested the cooperation of U.S. lawmakers in amending the nuclear pact between the two countries during a visit by U.S. Senator Bob Corker.

Yun said he hoped an amicable agreement would be achieved with the trust between South Korea and the U.S. on Friday. The two had discussed a request that an agreement signed with the United States be revised to allow South Korea to reprocess spent nuclear fuel.

The foreign minister also urged cooperation regarding the increase of the yearly quota of professional visas to South Koreans from the U.S.

The ministry said Corker had shown much interest in issues between the U.S. and South Korea, and expressed hopes that win-win agreements would be derived from the bilateral relationship.
