Stocks Close Strong in New York

Better economic indices in the U.S. and positive signs concerning the Cypriot financial crisis have sent the New York stock market soaring to a record high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 89-point-16 points or zero-point-61 percent from the last week's session to close at 14-thousand-662-point-01 on Tuesday.

The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index ended at one-thousand-570-point-25, up eight-point-08 points or zero-point-52 percent. The Nasdaq composite index was up 15-point-69 points, or zero-point-48 percent, at three-thousand-254-point-86.

Both Dow and S&P broke their previous records.
