TV Production Drops Around the World Last Year

The number of televisions produced globally last year fell for the first time in a decade.

Market research firm IHS iSuppli says 238-point-five million TVs were produced across the world last year, down six-point-three percent from 2011. The global TV market saw only one percent growth in 2011.

The fall is attributable to a drop in sales in Japan and sluggish demand for TVs in North America and Western Europe. IHS iSuppli says the fall in sales is due to the saturation of the flat panel TV markets.
