S.Koreans Verbally Abused on Sydney Bus

The Asians who were racially abused on a bus in Sydney on Easter Sunday were found to be South Koreans.

Australian daily Sydney Morning Herald reported that the victims were South Koreans, a postgraduate student identified by his surname Kim and his aunt.

Kim, who is studying at the University of Sydney, told an interview that it is not the first time he was racially abused and that it is a relief that the latest incident was filmed by someone.

Kim said that his aunt apologized after bumping into a middle-aged caucasian man on the bus, but the man hurled racist slurs.

An official at the Korean Consulate General in Sydney said that the local police has already obtained witnesses’ statements on the incident and is ready to punish the assailant. The official added that the punishment will depend on what course of actions the victims choose to do.
