RFA Says China Provided N. Korea with Fertilizer

Radio Free Asia reports China recently provided a large amount of fertilizer to North Korea and plans to shortly resume food aid to the North.

Quoting North Korean sources, the U.S.-based broadcaster reported that China delivered more than 200-thousand tons of fertilizer to the North for free at the end of April so the North could distribute it to collective farms.

The U.S. broadcaster also quoted an official of North Pyeongan Province's trading department as saying that Pyongyang is already distributing food reserves to North Koreans since it anticipates food aid will soon arrive from China.

In addition, the broadcaster said that trade between North Korea and China is very active and they are building a new customs house in Samjiyeon district in Yanggang Province.
