US Delays Test Launch of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

The U.S. Air Force has postponed the test-launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile due to last minute safety concerns.

The Air Force said the Minuteman 3 missile set to launch Tuesday won't be tested until at least Wednesday morning at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The missile is targeted to fly six-thousand-740 kilometers toward waters near the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. The missile has a maximum range of 13-thousand kilometers and is capable of reaching North Korea and Iran.

The U.S. military said the launch is aimed at improving the missile’s accuracy.

The Pentagon was originally planning to carry out the test launch in early April but delayed it after tensions rose on the Korean Peninsula due to North Korea’s continued threats of war.
