Chinese Premier Warns Japan Against Glorifying Wartime Aggression

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has warned Japan against glorifying wartime aggression during his trip to Germany.

Chinese media said Monday that while visiting the city of Potsdam on Monday, Li said no country would be allowed to violate the peace achieved after the second World War.

He said that any attempt to glorify or deny wartime aggression will not be tolerated by the Chinese people and will be condemned by people all over the world.

Li stressed that Japan, as a state responsible for the war, should look at history straight in the eye.

Japan responded by refuting Li’s remark, saying it’s apparently related to China’s territorial claim over a disputed group of islands in the East China Sea. Both China and Japan claim sovereignty over the islands.

Japan also said it cannot accept Li’s remark, as it neglects history.
