Support Builds for N. Korea Sanctions Bill in US Congress

More support is building in the U.S. House of Representatives for the passage of a bill to impose tougher sanctions on North Korea.

Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ed Royce introduced the bill at the end of April and it has since secured 95 cosponsors out of 435 representatives.

There is speculation on and off Capitol Hill that it is only a matter of time until the bill passes considering the supportive atmosphere in Congress.

The proposed bill prohibits companies, banks and governments dealing with North Korea from doing business with the United States. It also allows the U.S. to sanction a third party or country engaging in illicit dealings with the North.
