The Education Ministry announced on Tuesday the basic guidelines for the 2019 college entrance exam, which will be taken by students who are currently high school freshmen.

The 2019 College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) will be in the same format as the 2018 exam, in which an absolute evaluation method for English will be adopted and Korean history will be a mandatory subject. Other mandatory subjects of the test are Korean language, mathematics and English.
 
Students must also select one subject among social studies, science and vocational education and one between foreign language and Chinese characters.
 
The subject of mathematics will be divided into type A and type B, depending on whether the test taker intends to take the science course or liberal arts course in college.

The ministry said the 2019 CSAT will be held on November 15th, 2018.
