The sentencing of former President Park Geun-hye on charges related to pocketing special funds from the state spy agency and meddling in then-ruling Saenuri Party's nominations will be broadcast live Friday.

The sentencing hearing is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at the Seoul Central District Court.

In January, prosecutors indicted Park on charges including bribery, embezzlement and loss of state funds for illegally accepting three-point-five billion won from the National Intelligence Service between May 2013 and September 2016.

The former president is accused of using the funds for personal use and to provide incentives and bonuses to her close aides.

It will be the second time the former president's sentencing will be broadcast live. In April, the court televised the sentencing of Park when she received a 24-year prison term on corruption charges over the influence-peddling scandal that led to her ouster.

Similar to the first televised ruling, the court plans to record the sentencing using its own cameras and then send the footage out to the press as a means to maintain order.
