The Foreign Ministry has confirmed the safety of five of seven South Korean nationals that could not be contacted in Indonesia after a powerful earthquake and tsunami struck Friday.

A ministry official said Monday that the safety of five South Koreans who were staying or visiting Palu City in central Sulawesi, which was hit hardest by the earthquake, has been confirmed and the ministry is continuing to try and contact the remaining two.

According to Indonesian media, at least one-thousand-200 people were killed following the seven-point-five magnitude quake.
