Former President Chun Doo-hwan's family has lost an administrative lawsuit filed in protest of a building seized from the family's residence in Seoul's Yeonhee-dong area.

The Seoul Administrative Court on Friday did not rule in favor of the plaintiff, the former president's daughter-in-law surnamed Lee, who asked the court to nullify the seizure order.

Lee filed the suit in 2018 against the chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office, arguing that the seizure of the building, which is in her name, was unfair. The lawsuit is just one of many brought up by the former leader's family after the Yeonhee-dong residence was put up for public auction as requested by the prosecution.

Earlier, the Seoul High Court accepted some of the objections filed against the decision, and ordered the seizure of the residence's main building and garden cancelled.

But it upheld the decision regarding an annex building owned by the daughter-in-law based on the assessment that it was purchased with money from slush funds.

The Administrative Court is also reviewing a separate case filed by the former president's wife against the Korea Asset Management Corporation that involves revoking the public sale of their residence.
