K-pop boy band BTS has topped Japan's Oricon daily albums chart with a new version of their album "BE," called the Essential Edition.

According to rankings unveiled Saturday, the new BE album sold 92-thousand copies on the first day of release Friday to rank number one.

BTS topped the Oricon weekly albums chart in December with their Delux Edition of BE.

The Essential Edition is a gift to global fans known as Army to thank them for the boy band's success on U.S. billboard charts and with Grammy nominations.

BTS will make an appearance on the MTV show "Unplugged" on Tuesday local time as the first South Korean artists to grace the stage, performing some songs from the new album.
