South Korea has ranked eighth among 53 nations in a monthly ranking of countries considered the best to live in the COVID-19 era.

According to Bloomberg's Covid Resilience Ranking for February, South Korea moved up four spots from January to place eighth.

Bloomberg draws up the ranking based on the number of new cases for every 100-thousand people each month, the fatality rate, the amount of secured vaccines, the vaccination rate, the degree of lockdowns and growth outlooks.

South Korea is considered to have moved up spots last month thanks to signs of the latest virus wave slowing down and the country securing vaccines.

New Zealand maintained the top spot, followed by Australia, Singapore, Finland, Norway, China and Taiwan. Japan and Thailand ranked ninth and tenth, respectively.
