Typhoon Omais Leaves Damage in Southern Regions

Typhoon Omais left the east coast of the Korean Peninsula at around 3 a.m. Tuesday, but left damage in the southern regions of the country with heavy rain and winds. 

According to authorities, some 110 reports of damage were made in the southern port city of Busan, including cars and homes that were flooded. Some 33 roads in the city's downtown area were restricted due to flooding or concerns of flooding. 

A landslide in South Gyeongsang Province blocked a road late Monday. 

In Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, residents in old urban central lowlands reported that water came up to their ankles. 

The province evacuated 12-thousand people beforehand, while around 240 people were evacuated in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. 

No casualties have been reported.

The typhoon made landfall near Goseong, South Gyeongsang Province at around 12 a.m. before leaving near Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.
