One million doses of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in South Korea from Britain starting Saturday.

This is according to an official accompanying President Moon Jae-in on his visit to New York, who relayed the news to reporters on Monday.

During summit talks between Moon and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday, the U.K. leader said he is pleased with the vaccine swap deal with South Korea.

Moon hoped the deal will serve to further solidify bilateral relations. Though both leaders used the term "vaccine swap," only the U.K.'s supply to South Korea has been made known so far.

The mRNA vaccines refer to Pfizer or Moderna. One million doses is enough to inoculate 500-thousand people.
