The tech-heavy KOSDAQ, meanwhile, climbed seven-point-82 points, or zero-point-86 percent, to close at 914-point-18.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency strengthened two won against the U.S. dollar, closing the day at one-thousand-333-point-four won.
