President-elect Calls for National Advancement in '08

President-elect Lee Myung-bak has urged the Korean people to help the nation advance so it can become a world leader next year.

In his New Year’s address, Lee went on to say that all sectors should step up to a higher, more mature level and turn to creativity for a better future.

The incoming president urged respect for the law so that Korea can join the ranks of advanced nations. He stressed that everyone, in households, in schools, in companies and in the government, from laborers to the president, must abide by the rules.

Lee promised the new administration will take the lead in such efforts. At the same time, he noted that the economy faces adverse conditions and may not be revitalized overnight.

He closed his message by wishing every household happiness and hope in the new year.
