Defense Submits Iraq Troop Extension Plan
Defense Minister Kim Jang-soo has reported to the parliamentary defense committee on the government's plan to extend the deployment of Korean troops in Iraq.
Kim submitted the proposed plan to committee Chairman Kim Seong-gon during the parliamentary inspection of the Navy in the Armed Forces headquarters Gyeryongdae.
The plan recommends that the Zaytun Unit stay an additional year until the end of 2008, but with a 50 percent reduction in troop strength.
