A survey shows the nation expects to join the ranks of advanced countries within the next ten years.

According to a survey of 800 South Koreans conducted by the Federation of Korean Industries, the general consensus believes that countries with per-capita national incomes of 30-thousand U.S. dollars or more are advanced and that Korea will reach that status before 2020.

They believed that to join the ranks of advanced nations, Korea should improve its industrial productivity through technological development, innovation, better labor-management relations and a higher level of political maturity.

The respondents cited the National Assembly, the political sector and labor unions as the biggest stumbling blocks to the nation’s hopes of becoming an advanced country.
