KFDA Introduces Label Guideline for Organic Makeup
Starting next year, cosmetic products made of less than 95 percent natural materials will no longer be allowed to be labeled as “organic.”
The Korea Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that the new labeling and advertisement guidelines for organic makeup products will take effect in January.
Under the new regulation, lotion or cream products labeled "organic" must be comprised of at least 95 percent natural ingredients, and no less than ten percent of the natural materials must come from organic sources.
The administration said that it devised the regulation due to a lack of industry standards or guidelines for organic makeup products despite the rising demand for such products.
