N. Korean Leader Visits Mausoleum to Mark Anniversary of Father’s Death

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reportedly visited a mausoleum for his father, former leader Kim Jong-il, to mark the ninth anniversary of his death.

The North's official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Thursday that Kim paid tribute at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where the bodies of Kim's grandfather, founder Kim Il-sung, and father lie in state.

The KCNA said Kim made a deep bow in reverence for his father who dedicated his whole life to the country and people with warm love and devotion till the last moments of his revolutionary life.

The KCNA did not say when the visit was made, but Kim is thought to have visited the palace on Wednesday or early Thursday as his father died on December 17, 2011.

Kim was accompanied by his sister Kim Yo-jong and other top officials, including Choe Ryong-hae, the North's Number Two leader and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly.
