APEC 2005 Korea Kicks Off Saturday
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum will kick off in the port city of Busan on Saturday for an eight-day run.
The Concluding Senior Officials' Meeting will convene at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center on Saturday, during which top officials from APEC's 21 member economies will discuss achievements the organization made this year.
The meeting will be followed by the APEC summit and meetings among financial and foreign affairs ministers.
Meanwhile on Friday, an international media center that will provide thorough coverage of the global event will open at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center while a festival celebrating the launch of the forum will be held later in the evening.
Under the theme, “Towards one community: meet the challenge, make the change,” the 21 member economies will seek measures for cooperation in various fields.
