No. of Korean Students Surge in US Universities

A new report shows that South Korean students were the third largest group of international students enrolled in U.S. higher education institutions.

According to the annual report by the U.S. Institute of International Education, the number of South Koreans accounted for ten-point-four percent of some 565-thousand foreign students. The figure is up ten-point-three percent from last year, the second highest increase rate after Nepal.

India remained the country that the most overseas students came from by a margin of 13-and-a-half percent, although the number of students declined by five percent this year.

India was followed by China with some eleven percent.

The report said Asia is still the region that the most foreign students in the U.S. hail from, accounting for 58 percent of the U.S.'s total international enrollment.
