Gov't to Announce Real Estate Measures Wednesday

The government will announce Wednesday measures to lower apartment prices and strengthen home loan standards in order to stabilize the real estate market.

The government will hold consultations with the ruling Uri Party before announcing its finalized plans on Wednesday afternoon.

The government’s plan includes lowering debt-to-income (DTI) ratios used in determining loan eligibility to block speculative demand and bringing loan-to-value ratios down to 50 percent from the current 60 to 70 percent.

The government is also mulling the introduction of a price ceiling system for apartments to lower home prices.

The plan also includes ways to further expand the provision of housing in six new towns in the Seoul area.
