The government is considering a shuttle route between Korea and China as the two nations celebrate their 15th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

A Korean official said Tuesday that the government was discussing an additional route between Seoul and Shanghai similar to the Kimpo-Haneda one between Korea and Japan.

The official noted that the airline industry has stressed the need for a route separate from the Incheon-Beijing one.

However, as Incheon International Airport is seeking to become a regional hub for Northeast Asia, it would require serious discussion among related ministries.
