Inter-Korean Women's Ice Hockey Team Finishes Olympic Mission
Anchor: The unified Korean women’s ice hockey team suffered another heavy defeat in its final match at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Tuesday. Despite suffering losses in all of its matches, the team became a symbol for peace and unity during the games.  Our Laurence Taylor has more.   Report:  [Sound bite: PyeongChang Winter Olympics Ice Hockey 7th place classification match] Korea lost 6-1 to Sweden in the seventh place classification match at Kwandong Hockey Centre, its fifth consecutive defeat of the games.   Sweden scored first but Korean captain Han Soo-jin equalized in the first period to score her team’s second goal of the tournament.  Sweden then exerted its superiority over Korea as it scored five unanswered goals to finish comfortable winners. After wrapping up the Olympic mission in last place in the tournament, head coach of the inter-Korean team Sarah Murray was proud of her players for becoming "One Body," her motto throughout the campaign. Previously, the Koreas had only fielded joint teams in table tennis and youth football at world championships.  On Monday, the International Ice Hockey Federation said that it would be open to the Koreas entering a joint women’s hockey team to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.  Laurence Taylor, KBS World Radio News.

Canadian Pair Claim Ice Dance Gold with World Record Score
Canada’s Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won the ice dance event at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Tuesday with a world record score.  The Canadian pair were awarded a score of 122-point-40 in the free program at the Gangneung Ice Arena which, when combined with their score from Monday’s short program, gave them a world record total score of 206-point-07.  It is the third time Virtue and Moir have claimed an Olympic gold, after winning the ice dance event at the 2010 Vancouver Games and the team event earlier in Pyeongchang.  French ice dancers Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron claimed the silver medal and American brother-sister duo Alex and Maia Shibutani took the bronze.   The South Korean team of Min Yu-ra and Alexander Gamelin finished in 18th place out of the 20 competing teams, with a combined score of 147-point-74.

Canada Wins Gold in Women's Halfpipe Skiing
Canada’s Cassie Sharpe won the women’s halfpipe skiing final at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Tuesday. Having finished first in the qualifying round, Sharpe again proved too strong for her rivals as she earned a best score of 95-point-80 to claim the gold at Phoenix Park. The 25 year-old put together a spectacular routine to add the Olympic title to the gold medal she won in the superpipe event at the Winter X Games in 2016.   France's Marie Martinod won her second straight Olympic silver with a score of 92-point-60, while American Brita Sigourney claimed bronze.  Meanwhile, defending Olympic champion Maddie Bowman finished in last place.  The American won the inaugural women's halfpipe event at the Sochi Games in 2014, but fell on all of her three runs during the final in Pyeongchang.

S. Korea's Cha Min-kyu Claims Silver at Men's 500 meter
South Korean speed skater Cha Min-kyu has claimed the host country's seventh medal of the PyeongChang Games, winning a silver in the men's 500-meter speed skating. In the finals at the Gangneung Oval on Monday, the 24-year old clocked in at 34-point-42 seconds, just point-01 seconds behind Norway's Havard Lorentzen. China's Gao Tingyu won bronze.  Cha's compatriots, Mo Tae-bum and Cha Min-kyu, couldn't secure a podium finish.

IIHF Hopes to See Another Joint Korean Ice Hockey Team at Beijing Olympics
The head of the International Ice Hockey Federation(IIHF) says he will push for a back-to-back Olympic entry for a joint women’s Korean ice hockey team following its debut at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.  IIHF chief Rene Fasel announced the plan during a press conference at the Kwandong Hockey Center in Gangneung on Monday, expressing hope that a unified Korean team will continue to deliver the message of peace at the Beijing Winter Olympics.  The joint Korean women’s ice hockey team, created less than a month before the opening of the PyeongChang Olympics, lost all of its four matches so far held at the Winter Games, including three group round competitions and a classification game against Switzerland on Sunday.

American Women’s Ice Hockey Team Reach Olympic Final
The American women’s ice hockey team easily defeated Finland in its semi-final match at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Monday. Team USA dominated the match at Gangneung Hockey Centre where they won 5-0 to progress to Thursday’s final.  Dani Cameranesi scored twice and Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson, Gigi Marvin, and Hilary Knight all scored once in the straightforward win.    The U.S. will play the winner of Monday’s other semi-final between Canada and Olympic Athletes from Russia.  Should Canada advance to the final, it will be the third consecutive Winter Olympics in which the U.S. and Canada have faced off. Canada took gold at both the 2010 Vancouver Games and the 2014 Sochi Games.

Canadian Pair Set New Ice Dance Short Program World Record
Canada’s Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir set a new world record in the ice dance short program on Monday and took the lead in the event at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.  The Canadian duo put on an impressive display at the Gangneung Ice Arena to earn a score of 83-point-67, improving on the world record score they set back in October. French ice dancers Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron finished in second place and Americans Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue placed third. The South Korean team of Min Yu-ra and Alexander Gamelin also progressed to Tuesday’s free dance program, as they finished in 16th place out of the 24 competing teams. The top 20 teams qualified for the final stage of the event.  Min and Gamelin were both born in the U.S., but are eligible to represent South Korea as Min has Korean heritage and Gamelin passed a citizenship test.

S. Korean Women's Curling Team Defeats Sweden
The South Korean women’s curling team continued its good form at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics with a thrilling win over Sweden on Monday.  The South Korean team narrowly won 7-6 in the match at the Gangneung Curling Centre to take a huge step toward qualifying for the semi-finals.  Sweden took the lead in the first end, but Team Korea quickly responded and held a 7-3 lead going into the ninth end.  Although Sweden scored three points in the final two ends, it wasn’t enough to turn the match around as South Korea held on to claim its fifth victory of the games. South Korea is now in joint first place in the rankings of the ten competing nations, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-final stage.   In the morning session’s other matches, Switzerland thrashed Olympic Athletes from Russia 11-2, while Canada defeated Japan 8-3. The United States won their match against Denmark 7-6.

Martin Fourcade Wins Biathlon to Claim 4th Olympic Gold
France’s Martin Fourcade won the men’s 15km mass start biathlon race at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Sunday. Fourcade held off Simon Schempp of Germany in a sprint finish at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre to pick up his fourth Olympic gold. Norwegian Emil Hegle Svendsen took the bronze medal. Fourcade thought he had been denied first place in the event, as he slammed one of his poles into the snow in frustration after finishing the race.  However, the photo finish revealed he had actually finished ahead of Schempp to claim the gold with a time of 35 minutes 47-point-three seconds.  Biathlon combines skiing and shooting. The men's 15km event features five laps of a 3km course and includes four shooting rounds.
