The Sun: US Deploys X-Band Radar Near N. Korea

A British newspaper has reported that the U.S. Navy deployed a powerful antiballistic missile detection radar system to the vicinity off North Korea's coast.

The Sun said on Monday that the Pentagon made the order to dispatch the Sea-Based X-Band Radar(SBX) from its base in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii toward the Korean Peninsula to intercept North Korean nuclear missiles bound for the U.S. mainland.

According to the paper, the floating radar system was reported to have left Pearl Harbor, adding that “it is understood the U.S. government confirmed it has been deployed to the North Korean coast.”

The Sun said that the SBX can detect a baseball over San Francisco from the other side of the continent.

The North conducted two nuclear tests this year and test-fired more than 20 ballistic missiles.
