The government is carefully considering the option of placing North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s younger sister on a list of entities and individuals subject to South Korea’s sanctions.
 
During a news briefing on Monday, Unification Ministry Spokesman Jeong Joon-hee addressed media reports that the government produced its own sanctions list that includes Kim’s sister, Yo-jong.

Jeong stressed that whether the vice director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department under the Workers' Party will be added to the list is being carefully reviewed among many ideas.
 
Asked if the government is considering listing the North Korean leader, Jeong refused to give an answer.
 
On March eighth this year, six days after the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2270 condemning the North’s fourth nuclear test, Seoul unveiled its own sanctions against Pyongyang and blacklisted 30 entities and 40 individuals that participated in the North’s weapons of mass destruction development efforts.
