Conflicting Reports on Progress in UN North Korea Draft Resolution

There are conflicting reports Thursday as to how much progress the United States and China have made drafting a new United Nations resolution to punish North Korea for its latest nuclear test.
Japan' Kyodo news agency cites multiple sources at the U.N. Security Council as saying the two permanent members have agreed on a draft resolution.
However, in a Thursday briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said negotiations are still underway.
China is North Korea's biggest trading partner and a historical ally of North Korea's.
It's unclear whether Beijing is seekiresponse is believed to be due to the fact that more time is needed to seek the approval of Russia and other council members.
