A noted American expert on North Korea predicts that the incoming U.S. administration will never acknowledge North Korea as a nuclear weapons state.
 
David Straub, associate director of the Korean Studies Program at Stanford University, also predicts the Trump administration will not accept a freeze or cap on the North’s nuclear capabilities, in part because of a possible wrong signal it could send to Iran.
 
Speaking at a conference in Washington, Straub insisted that the U.S. should never accept anything other than the North's denuclearization.
 
He recommends stronger sanctions as well as more attractive measures to entice North Korea to denuclearize, while offering reassurances that Washington is not seeking regime collapse.
