Kim Jong-un Warns against Party Bureaucratism
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has hinted at a massive personnel reshuffle, condemning bureaucratism among working-level officials of the ruling party.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) on Monday reported about the three-day convention of entry-level officials of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea.
Appearing on the last day of the event on Sunday, the young North Korean leader said he will carry out a party-wide ideological refinement campaign, suggesting a possible reshuffle.
Kim was cited as calling for an end to bureaucratism among the lower-level party officials, calling it a cause of corruption and power abuse.
He warned that the Workers’ Party cannot achieve a revolution and survive if it fails to eradicate bureaucracy.
Kim ordered entry-level party officials in the defense sector to develop cutting-edge weapons as a way to simultaneously advance economic growth and nuclear development. He called on film and arts officials to work harder, noting a slump in the sectors.
