S. Korea, US, Japan Agree to Strengthen Efforts for Nuke-Free N. Korea

Seoul, Washington and Tokyo have agreed to strengthen their concerted efforts to isolate and pressure North Korea to achieve the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The agreement was made during a meeting in Washington D.C. on Thursday among South Korea’s First Vice Minister Lim Sung-nam, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama.

During the trilateral meeting, the sixth of its kind since 2015, the three vice ministers underlined the significance of Resolutions 2270 and 2321 adopted by the UN Security Council last year.

They assessed that the three allies have deepened Pyongyang’s diplomatic isolation through all-out diplomatic efforts.

They also said that they bolstered the need worldwide to address the North's severe human rights situation.
